I was involved in a very bad accident on the QEW at Third Line on Feb 26/09, which resulted in a 4 car pile-up, causing many injuries to myself.
I beleive the reason begins at the weigh station located in Oakville at Third Line. The truck drivers re-entering the highway are at an understandbly very slow acceleration speed, causing the flowing traffic to slow down, oftentimes very quickly.
The weigh stations on the sides of all major highways should not be open, especially during the rush/peak hours. As a result of them being opened during these heavily congested times, there have been a multitude of accidents that have occurred because of them. I have been witness to several at this very location.
Let's petition the Minister of Transportation, Hon. James J. Bradley, to close all of these stations during rush and or peak traffic times.
Please sign this petition as I will be forwarding it to the Minister when I have acquired at least 1000 signatures but I'm hoping that it will produce much more.
We, the licensed drivers of Ontario, call on Hon. James J. Bradley, Minister of Transportation, to hereby issue an order to close all weigh stations that are positioned on the sides of all major highways during rush and or peak traffic times.
