This is a CALL TO ACTION! As a community we need to push for social reform in regards to human rights in order to address predjudices and inequities found in all forms. This means we need to create a committee of invested citizens that will stand together for change in our county administration processes, education reforms, and police procedures/policies. This committee should consist of community leaders such as teachers, police officers, students, parents, healthcare workers, school board members, town council members, county administration members, and other invested citizens. We want to bridge alliances with advocacy groups, legal aid/law centers, due process in discipline and special education services, and fight against injustice and protection of rights for all (including, but not limited to, BIPOC and LGBTQIA+).
We, the undersigned, call on the Charlotte County local government and boards to create a committee to address predjudices and inequities, in all forms, in order to improve academic achievement, progress the community forward, and enhance trust and mutual respect in our community.
