Change Speed Limit on New Bingham Highway

Background (Preamble):
Cooper Hills High School is located on 5445 New Bingham Highway West Jordan 84081.
A student named Jaxen Henderson died on October 19, 2011. Jaxen marks the fifth student from Cooper Hills High School who died this year due to accidents on New Bingham Highway. Last year more than 3 students from Cooper Hills Died because of the speed limit on New Bingham High Way.
Before and after school, every school zone in Utah has a sign with yellow lights blinking with the writing, "SCHOOL SPEED LIMIT 20MPH WHEN FLASHING." New Bingham Highway's speed limit is 50mph. At 3:00p.m Mountain Time the lights on the yellow sign will be turned off.
There are a lot of programs at school that students are involved with such as, Dance Company practices, Drama Club meetings, sport practices and plenty more.
Unfortunately majority of accidents occur during these after school hours.
Due to the speed limit of 50mph on New Bingham Highway, Cooper Hills High School had suffered a great loss this year and in the past.
Therefore I'm taking a stand and try to get as many signatures to change the speed limit from 50mph to 40 for the safety of our students. Show your support by signing this petition.

We, the undersigned, call on the Utah Department of Public Safety to lower the speed limit on New Bingham Highway to 40mph.
1. We have a lot of students who are involved with after school programs.
2. Lower death rate in Cooper Hills High School.
3. Cooper Hills High School will be located in a safe environment.
4. We have students that walk/ jog or drive home after school hours from meetings and sport practices.
We would like to see signs (40mph) along with a warning sign that states, "Student drivers up ahead" on New Bingham Highway. We would like to see these sign's before the school zone. This will ensure public safety and also stop the mourning of Cooper Hills High School after their loved ones.
We are not asking for something that can not be done with a little effort.
