Petition Background (Preamble):
SAYS: NO! TO CAFÉ CLOSURES
Without any consultation with staff or students, Sodexo management have advised UNISON that they intend to reduce café opening hours by up to 22% across all City and Islington College sites.
At Finsbury Park this could mean a reduction of 16 hours per week and no evening opening.
All cafés will open later or close earlier with vending machines replacing the counter service.
After successfully negotiating for the London Living Wage, front line canteen staff are now being asked to take a reduction in hours and pay.
