The Bring My Daddy Home Campaign starts with a petition to eradicate the Truth-in-Sentencing law. Our goal is to compel the lawmakers and the Governor to give those who's considered least among us a second chance at life. We're not saying that crimes go unpunished, we're saying the whole point of justice is for balance to be restored. 100% of a 35 or 50 year sentence won't make a law abiding citizen. But a 2nd chance at freedom will give any man in despair a new lease on life. And he's less likely to squander his opportunity.

Changing the Truth-in-Sentencing law (100% time served) back to 50% not only restores people's lives. its evidence that the justice system is the perfect balance between punishment, compassion, & rehabilitation. Thereby creating a better citizen with a mind to do what's right. This change in law would put fathers back in their homes to raise their children, complete the family unit structure, it would fill the void in the urban communities. Above all 50% saves states and the nation MONEY!!! It's ironic, warehousing people paying their debts increases the state's and nations deficit.

Mass incarceration won't be erased by relieving the non-violent offenders only. Relieving non-violent offenders is only a start. The true problem, however, is sentencing a barely legal adult to 30,40 or 50 years under the truth-in-sentencing act (100%). Granted, the crimes are violent and deserve punishment. But justice is also about compassion, rehabilitation, and restoration. It doesn't take 30+ years for someone's mind to be renewed. Disavowing the truth-in-sentencing law and returning the system back to a 50% requirement would knock a chunk out of mass incarceration, still satisfying the punishment aspect of law.
