Bring Back our Pedestrian Lights

Target: UK
Background (Preamble):
The LibDem/Tory coalition removed a series of pedestrian crossings on busy traffic streets in the town. In particular:

1. Pedestrian lights on Kings Road at Jackson ’s Corner

2. A pedestrian crossing in Blagrave St opposite the entrance to the station by the Heathrow bus terminus

3. A pedestrian crossing in Eldon Road to replace those lost from the junction with London Road .

In all three cases the loss of these lights has increased the difficulty for pedestrians to cross the roads safely and poses particular risks for the young, the elderly and the disabled.

This policy of the last administration is up for review at The Traffic Management Panel in September, it will ask are these streets safe without a pedestrian crossing and how do people feel about it. We need to get as many people as possible to tell this committee that these crossings need to be reinstated.
Petition:
We call up Reading Borough Council to reinstate:

1. Pedestrian lights on Kings Road at Jackson ’s Corner

2. A safe pedestrian crossing in Blagrave St opposite the entrance to the station by the Heathrow bus terminus

3. A pedestrian crossing in Eldon Road to replace those lost from the junction with London Road.
