Prime Minister. Government. United Kingdom

United Kingdom

Brave men have fought for, and still are fighting for peace. WW1, WW2, Korean, Falklands, Persian Gulf, Iraq.

But, what is happening here on our own door steps? On a regular basis we open our daily papers only to read:-

“Manchester's reputation for gangland killings returned to haunt the city yesterday as a teenager was shot dead in the notorious Moss Side area.”

“Three people from Birmingham are charged with stabbing teenager.”

“A boy was stabbed in the heart after being confronted by a gang of eight to ten black youths after he got off a bus at 11pm last night in Lambeth, south London.”

It ISN’T getting to a stage were people are afraid to go out alone. It HAS reached the stage were people are afraid to go out alone.

On street corners you see groups of youths, hoodies, gangland members, they are intimidating.

What can we do, who can we blame?

Blame lack of parental control, blame drugs, blame drink, blame rap stars. Yes all of these things contribute to the way things are going in our country.

But for once can’t we add BOREDOM to our list of who or what to blame?

The National Service Act could be introduced in the United Kingdom.Young men could be conscripted into any of the three services.
At 18yrs of age young men would have to register for service. Maybe they could have a choice to opt out; if they could prove that they were doing an apprenticeship or any sort of training for a future career. Or on medical grounds.

As in the past The National Service would begin with registration and a medical examination, to ensure that the man was fit for military service. To ensure no one was missed conscripts could be traced through their National Health records or other means.
The conscript would then be interviewed by a MIO (Military Interviewing Officer) in order to match him to the Service that would be the most suitable for his skills and experience.

It would hopefully, at least in some cases give these youths some sort of direction in life, learn to obey rules and regulations. Relieve their boredom. Make them realise that there is more to life than killing our own people, taking drugs, getting drunk, hanging around street corners. Learn them new skills that could lead to a permanent career. Give them a chance to grow up into decent young men, who we as a country would be proud of.

We, the undersigned, call on the British government to bring back National Service.
