PREAMBLE: A noxious aroma of impropriety and unaccountability is exuding from the pet-food-meat processing plant operated by Kasel Associates Industries, Inc. in Denver, Colorado. Despite the plant's having been cited recently by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration for various deficiencies in overall sanitation and pet-food safety, the plant's management has, up until now, resisted the FDA demand that it undertake a full-scale recall of such tainted items as treats for dogs ("Boots and Barkley" brand -- see details of the FDA finding here: http://www.fda.gov/safety/recalls/ucm340552.htm ).
BACKGROUND: Over the past several months, one of my own dogs (Gem'l, who relishes chewing on the made-in-USA Kasel-manufactured bone treats) has incurred two episodes of vomiting a chalky fluid. I'm unsure whether that substance signifies the salmonella presence cited by the FDA report. But so much for the ugly irony of my avoiding any dog-food treats made in foreign countries. In late February 2013, I happened to be visiting the Target department store in Hampton, Va., to acquire a resupply of bone treats. Noticing my selecting the new B&B package, another customer alerted me to the FDA report. Thereafter, I e-mailed a Target headquarters official with the request that the store act promptly to rid its shelves of all Kasel products. She replied that she would pass the request along to higher corporate authority for consideration.
NOTE: on March 6, 2013, the same Target official called me and revealed the store's decision to discontinue buying any Kasel products. In the meantime, let's hope that further evidence from prospective Kasel-based whistleblowers will shed more investigative and remedial light upon any alleged mal-/mis-/nonfeasance by Kasel Associates.

-- WHEREAS, family pets, our unquestionably vulnerable and dependent members of society, deserve not to be deceived, defrauded, or otherwise harmed by unsanitary/unsafe food-processing policy/practices;
-- WHEREAS, the shameful, callous, arrogantly deceptive conduct displayed by the Kasel enterprise has no right to continue in civil society; and
-- WHEREAS, the public's interest in protecting our pets' welfare outweighs any claim of commercial prerogative by the Kasel enterprise
-- WE, the undersigned stakeholders, hereby encourage the public boycotting of all commerce relating to any products/services produced by (and within) all facilities owned/operated by Kasel Associates Industries, Inc.; and we also do hereby petition the attorney general of the state of Colorado to investigate the relevant behavior, activity, and motivations of the Kasel enterprise so as to determine the extent of, and principals behind, any and all violations of Colorado laws and regulations governing Kasel operations and accountability.
