Target: Mackay region residents
Region: Australia
Web site: http://www.mackayroads.com
Background (Preamble):
For at least the past six years, local roads controlled by Mackay City Council have been under-funded.
While Council's collection of general rates has increased exponentially, their spending on capital road works has remained relatively stagnant.
The result is both an urban and rural local road network that is substandard and needing millions of dollar spent on it to bring it up to standard.

We, the undersigned, in recognising that there has been a significant shortfall in local roads funding by Mackay City Council over the past six years, hereby request that the Mackay Regional Council increase its capital road works budget by at least $8 million on top of that already budgeted by the Mackay, Mirani and Sarina shires in the 2008-09 financial year.
Further we request that council's capital road works budget increase by at least the same percentage as the general rates collection will increase in future budgets.
