An army marches on its stomach or so they say, and a safe crew functions on good crew rest and accessible communication devices.
Over the past several years many compensation cuts, work rule changes and other hardships have been imposed on the Flight Attendant group.
The lastest reconfiguration of the Boeing 767-300ER has left Flight Attendants working in the mid-galley with no immediate access to an interphone. We feel this is a safety hazard.
Our new Crew Rest seats are not conducive to ample crew rest. They are regular coach seats with no privacy curtains.
We realize the financial quandary the company is in, but then why are the pilots afforded facilities that are superior to ours? Our work onboard is vastly more physical. We are even relegated to the back of the line at our layover hotels when room keys are being distributed. It is illustrating more clearly the benefits of contract vs. non-contract employees.
We respectfully request that the Crew Rest facilities on the 767-300ER be re-addressed so as to provide our Flight Attendants with facilities similar to the pilots and our counterparts at other transoceanic carriers.
