Wheel clamping has been outlawed in Scotland where the practice has been deemed as "extortion" and "theft" by the courts based on cases of clamping and fines.
The petition has been prompted following complaints by drivers who feel they have been treated harshly by the operator of Crompton Street Car Park in Derby which has been fining up to £175.

We the undersigned petition the Westminster Government to ban wheel clamping on private land in England as it is in Scotland where the courts deemed it as ‘extortion’ and ‘theft’, and call upon drivers to boycott private car parks, like Crompton St in Derby, for employing wheel clamping and excessive charges for release.
