Smoking is known to cause premature death and about 440,000 deaths a year. Second-hand smoking is known to cause about 40,000 deaths a year.

Our country was founded on natural rights, which include the right to Life. The United States also believes in the concept that "once you violate someone else's right, your right becomes restricted".

When smoking, people often violate the right of others to Life. Therefore, smoking should be banned, in order to secure the rights of non-smokers.

We, the undersigned, request that smoking in public areas (which include private property opened to the public such as (but not limited to), restaurants, businesses, and general outdoors) be banned, in order to give non-smokers and second-hand smokers the right to Life.

The Ban Smoking in Public Areas petition to Government was written by Raul and is in the category Human Rights at GoPetition.
