APS is going to begin installing Smart Meters in Sedona, AZ and surrounding areas in early March. Residents have expressed concern about health, safety, privacy and rate issues and most do not want Smart Meters installed.
Last fall, the Board of the American Academy of Environmental Medicine issued a statement that "...peer reviewed, scientific literature demonstrates the correlation between EMF/RF exposure and neurological, cardiac and pulmonary disease as well as reproductive disorders, immune dysfunction, cancer and other health conditions. The evidence is irrefutable." The Board called for a moratorium on smart meter installations.
Residents of Sedona need to opt-out individually but also seek the support of the City Council, the Arizona Corporation Commission and APS to honor their request that Sedona be kept Smart Meter free and without penalty fees. NOTE: the Arizona Corporation Commission has not yet approved any fees for opting out. When you call to opt-out, be sure to ask to retain your analog (mechanical) meter.
We, the undersigned, in the interest of public health, safety and welfare, petition the Sedona City Council to take whatever steps are necessary to ban Smart Meters from all properties, commercial and residential, within the city limits and to disallow the collection of any fee in association with this ban. We pledge to call APS and opt out individually to support this effort.
