Pit Bull Breeds are looked at in a negative light based upon actions of irresponsible "owners" who breed and train them to fight. Pit Bulls ranked in the top 85% in the American Temperament Test. Many Pit Bull Breeds are successfully trained as therapy dogs and make great family pets. Pits are loyal and anxious to please.
Various other breeds have high bite ratings yet Pit Bulls are the only breed that seem to be spotlighted when it comes to this information. In all actuality the ratio of bites for Pit Bulls is lower than Dalmations, German Sheppards, and Chows.
We, the undersigned people, call on the MI House of Represenatives as well as the MI State Senate to eliminate the Breed Specific Legislation laws across the state which ban Pit Bull Breeds.
In doing so all Pit Bull Breeds shall be free from wrongful persecution and euthenization. We, the people, rightfully request that any and all current BSL bans be lifted.
