Ban Alcohol advertising on TV before 9:30 PM
Petition published by Ian pitcher on Sep 06, 2009
Target: AUSTRALIAN FEDERAL GOVERNMENT
Region: Australia
Petition Background (Preamble):
Alcohol advertising is conducted throughout the day on television, especially during sporting programs, when many young people, and children are watching. Alcohol abuse is a direct cause of violence, road accidents, and poor health.
Advertising tends to glorify drinking in the eyes of the young. Banning it during the day and early evening, ensures that Children and young adults are not as exposed.
The Federal Government has recently suggested that a ban is warranted. They will face stiff opposition from sporting organisations AFL and Cricket and Rugby in particular who make huge profits from Alcohol advertising, as well as Manufactures, retailers, and TV Networks
