Background (Preamble):
Frequently, autistics have been historically treated as non-persons, and many non-speaking autistics have been erroneously regarded as intellectually disabled.
The autistic self-advocacy movement promotes the position of "nothing about us without us." Many of us, individually and collectively, are now asserting our human rights, including to self-determination.

Petition:
We, the undersigned, call upon leaders in government, business, religion, education, medicine, and other institutions of society to respect the rights of autistics, as fellow citizens of their countries and members of their communities, to self-determination.
We further endorse one of the more common mottoes of the autistic community, "Nothing about us without us."
