Asperger's, NLD, PDD-NOS School

We, the parents, educators, and service providers, of students with Asperger's Syndrome, Nonverbal Learning Disorder, and PDD-NOS, ask the Office of Education, in the Counties of, Placer, Nevada, Sacramento, Yolo, and Sutter to work together, with us, to create a school model for this student population.

Currently, there are schools, both private and public, that are successfully educating these students with a tested, proven curriculum. Some of these schools include: The Orion Academy, The Springstone School, The Village Glen Schools, Wings Learning Resources, Summit Academies, and Fairfax County Public Schools.

We ask, the Counties listed, for a public, charter or magnet school, that will accommodate the special needs of this student population. This school is not intended to be a competitor of the local public schools, but a partner in reaching those children who fall between the cracks of traditional education. This school is in a real sense a part of the local public school system. It is our goal to be of one mind, which is focused on the child.

It is our desire to establish a school locally that will meet the needs of these young people so that they may each receive the most fulfilling school experience possible.
