Since 1968, in the wake of the thalidomide tragedy, the Government has required new medicines to be tested in animals. But 9 out of 10 drugs that pass animal tests
are unsafe or ineffective in humans.

It is time to compare animal tests with today’s advanced human biology-based methods. Please ask your MP to sign Early Day Motion 475 today.

We the undersigned call upon the Home Office to start an open and thorough inquiry into the safest and most effective methods of testing medicine.

We are concerned at the rate at which approved medications are causing illness and death, costing the health service billions of pounds, and agree with 83% of surveyed doctors who support such an inquiry.

We also call upon Members of Parliament to support this inquiry by signing EDM475, which asks for the inquiry.

The Animal test inquiry now petition to The UK Home Office was written by Cris Iles and is in the category Health at GoPetition.
