The abstract notion of space quickly takes on concrete manifestation in the city where space equals commodity.

Operating in the principal that parking spots are rectangles for rent by the miute and that most parking is owned by the city of Toronto- and therefore by all of us - I will claim my piece of concrete by the minute. By personalizing my rental space with carpets, furniture and objects, I draw attention to the politics of space as well as the boundaries between private and public.

An action will be performed in each location: A campout in front of the Toronto Free Gallery; Reiki on a massage table; borscht (Ukrainian soup) will be made with a group of young girls; TV will be watched with friends; and a digital photobooth where people can have their picture taken will occur in the 2008 season.

The public can feed the meter, thereby paying my rent for a maximum stay of 3 hours, in accordance to the City of Toronto parking rules.

We, the undersigned, encourage Auriane Mira Sokoloski to occupy paid parking spots for three hours at a time and believe that as she has paid rent, should be allowed to introduce new activities in parking spaces.
