During the times when air transport was a major problem, all major airlines were approached and try to convince them to service Batanes. None of them have the interest and equipment to service Batanes. Finally one airline which charted for 2 months in 2007 managed to fly to prove to the airline carrier that Batanes is worth it.
This became the current scheduled airline carrier for 4 years, but due to sudden increase of airfare, Ivatans are dismayed by the cost to travel using air transportation and there was a noticeable drop on tourism traffic.
The need to do something, with limited capacity, was established with SkyJet mainly for Batanes. Batanes is currently under served by the airline carriers. SkyJet would just support to meet its target for both local and tourist passengers.
We, the undersigned, call on the CAAP to approve a measure that would allow SkyJet provide a safe, convenient and affordable air transportation for the province of Batanes.
