I am a former student of Kaplan University's Criminal Justice Program (online). Prior to my enrolment in Kaplan I identified myself as being totally disabled (seriously bipolar/panic disorder/Ptsd). I also asked if kaplan needed a letter from my doctor or needed to see any kind of medical records? I was told no, just do not talk about it.

When I began to have problems manic/depressive episodes I confided in a few professors I trusted and was told not to talk about and it was brushed under the table. By the end of my 3rd year Kaplan began to ask me if I would consider leaving kaplan and go to a school that would better understand my disability? (exact words). During that time period I discovered the position I was being trained for due to my medical history and age I would not be qualified. I brought that to kaplans attention and again was asked if I would be more comfortable elsewhere. Please keep in mind I was a 3.8 gpa. The 3 years I spent at kaplan was based on lies by kaplan and are as worthless as the paper my diploma was wrtten on. Did Kaplan have any clear answers when I called them on this no, not even an apology of any kind.

Had Kaplan followed the ADA of 1990 that are laws protecting students with disablities rights, I would not be in the position I am in now. Psychological testing is part of the requirements, I would of never passed. I would of never passed an IQ test either my reading is at a 10th grade level and my math level is at 2nd grade.

Kaplan needs to reform it's treatment of the disabled, follow the laws that are in the book and stop taking short cuts in order to get to the financial aid.

We the undersigned call on Kaplan University to reform its treatment of the disabled, and to follow the laws as outlined in the ADA of 1990.
