The provincial government has announced the end of our Advisory Council on the Status of Women, effective 1 April, 2011.
The role of the Advisory Council, as stated in the law that created us, is to bring before the government and the public matters of interest and concern to women, and to advise the Minister. This proud mandate was given to us by New Brunswick women.

Le gouvernement provincial a annoncé la fin de notre Conseil consultatif sur la condition de la femme au Nouveau-Brunswick.
Le rôle du Conseil est de porter à l'attention du gouvernement et du public les questions qui intéressent et préoccupent les femmes, et de donner son avis au Ministre, selon la loi qui nous a créé. Ce mandat prestigieux nous a été confié par les femmes de la province.
We, the undersigned, ask Premier Alward to cancel the announced abolition of the New Brunswick Advisory Council on the Status of Women. We support the continuation of the work of this independent body which is the only one that can set its own agenda, its own priorities and its own positions on women's issues.

Nous les soussignées, demandons au premier ministre Alward d'annuler l'abolition annoncée du Conseil consultatif sur la condition de la femme au Nouveau-Brunswick.
