على اثر ما يسمى بعملية السور الواقي عام 2002حاصر الاحتلال الاسرائيلي 250 مناضل في كنيسة المهد في بيت لحم وقد مارس خلال 39 يوم من الحصار كل اشكال الاضطهاد انتهى الحصار بتاريخ 10/5/2002 بابعاد 39 مناضلا كانوا في الكنيسة 13منهمالى اوروبا و 26 الى قطاع غزة.
وقد مضى على هذا الابعاد 9 سنوات استشهد خلاله في العام الثامن الشهيد المبعد القائد عبدالله داودبتاريخ 24/3/2010 ما دفعنا لاطلاق "الحملة الوطنية لعودة مبعدي كنيسة المهد احياء"،و انشأت هذه المجموعة للضغط على الاحتلال الاسرائيلي و المجتمع الدولي خاصة الاتحاد الوروبي بصفته راعيا لصفقة الابعاد .
