Your Neighbourhood could be the next target for high-density housing
Campbell Ave Community (CAC) is a group of concerned residents of Leichhardt Municipality who:
Oppose the development applications to convert two houses at 8 and 10 Campbell Ave, Lilyfield into high-density units accommodating 24 boarders.
Support real solutions for diverse and affordable housing with genuine community consultation, not public subsidies to private developers to build overcrowded boarding houses.

Two development applications have been submitted to Leichhardt Council under the State Affordable Rental Housing SEPP. This SEPP limits the power of councils to enforce local Development Control Plans.
If these developments are approved, it gives power of precedent to build similar inappropriate developments anywhere in Leichhardt Municipality.
Imagine what your street would be like with 24 additional residents with no on-site parking. Imagine where there were once single-floor homes, there are now rows of double-floor units.
CAC opposes the DAs on the grounds that:
- it exceeds density, size, height allowed by the local Development Control Plans
- it adversely impacts quality of life: increased traffic and no off-street parking, loss of privacy from overlooking double-story balconies, blocks solar-access, increased noise and disturbance.
- destroys the value of the Campbell Avenue Heritage Conservation Area
- incompatible with the housing character and residential needs of the immediate neighbourhood
- gives no assurance that it will provide affordable rates
- is not sustainable in that owner can sell or apply for change of use.
- the immediate neighbourhood already supports a diversity of affordable housing with full resident support
- similar SEPP-based boarding house DAs have been refused by councils across NSW on the grounds of objections
