The Town of Morinville, AB has 4 public schools: 2 elementary schools, 1 middle school, and 1 high school. All of our PUBLIC schools belong to Greater St. Albert Catholic Regional Division No.29 (GSACRD).
Students can opt out of Religious Studies BUT Catholic theology, philosophy, practices and beliefs, the principles of the Gospel and teachings of the Catholic Church, are made accessible to students, including in the curriculum of every subject taught, both in and outside of formal religion classes, celebrations and exercises.
Residents have the right to a non-faith based public inclusive school, where students are fully represented.
We are not advocating for the elimination of a Roman Catholic education. We are advocating for our public schools to operate like other public schools across the province.
We, the undersigned, call on the Greater St. Albert Catholic Regional Division No.29 (GSACRD) and the Government of Alberta for a resident non-religious public school to be made available in Morinville, AB.
