Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We, the Manipuri people and friends of Manipur from every nook and corner of the World strongly oppose the restriction of visit to Manipur by foreigners under the Protected Area Permit (PAP) system after its implementation to Manipur state by the Government of India (GOI) way back in the year 1958 under the protected area regime for the Foreigners (Protected Areas) Order. In a bid to attract foreign tourists to the state, the government of Manipur is keep negotiating with the GOI to take off the PAP requirement but it still remains unheeded though it has been relaxed 3 codes from the existing guidelines mentioned under letter no. 15011/7/95-F.I dated 29/6/1998.
So since its inception, major hurdle in the promotion of rich heritage, medical plants and tourism of Manipur are being kept unexplored and remain alien. We, the Manipuris hope it is high time to take off PAP and see the outbreak and prosperity for our state in many arenas.
