Subject: Parker and Suffolk Avenue Crosswalk Improvements
Ms. Rios,
Please be advised, our evaluation of the current traffic conditions at the above referenced intersection have concluded. Base on observations, it has been recommended and approved that the following be done to address concerns:
1. Crosswalk Improvements to include new ADA compliant ramps and striping, especially in the north-south direction of Suffolk Avenue.
2. Installation of warning signs at and in advance of the crosswalk, to provide ample notice.
3. Both Kinder-Gan and the Jewish center should contact the Board of Education to see if the crossing guard at Parker and Highland Avenue can be used to accommodate the demand at the Suffolk Avenue intersection.
4. Continue Police enforcement, as currently observed.
We will look to implement the crosswalk improvements as soon as a contractor is retained and as weather permits. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me directly.

There is quite a bit of traffic at the intersection of Suffolk Avenue and Parker Avenue in Maplewood, NJ. Parents and nannies taking children to Kinder Gan school, often have quite a wait in order to cross the street safely, or have to run across the street due to speeding cars.
There have already been a number of accidents at the intersection within this last year. This is a troublesome spot in Maplewood, NJ.
We, the undersigned, call on the Township of Maplewood, to undertake traffic calming measures to ensure the safety of Kinder Gan students, parents and faculty.
Traffic calming measures will also benefit Clinton elementary school students as well as members of the Beth Ephraim temple.
