Background (Preamble):
Hanson Aggregates, a company owned by Heidelberg Cement, is attempting to have land adjacent to Umstead Park, which is currently zoned as residential, rezoned for industrial use.
Petition:
I oppose the rezoning petition Z-2-11, which will re-zone the area adjacent to Umstead State Park from low impact Residential Land to high impact Industrial Land.
This re-zoning will have several negative impacts, including to the environment and the health of Raleigh's citizens. Further, this re-zoning petition is in direct opposition to the City of Raleigh's Comprehensive Plan, which is designed, in part, to protect citizens from spot rezoning.
