The current winter sport code time period is 1st April to 30th September and the summer sport code time period is between 1st October to 30th March however there is generally a time out break of two weeks in between the two seasons to allow grounds for preperation, summer codes however can take a bit longer to prepare due to winter codes damaging the grounds.
For the last few years the winters have become more harsh which in turn damages grounds more therefore summer codes suffer with missed games due to delays.
We, the undersigned, call on the NZ Sports Minister Murray McCully to seriously consider moving all sporting code dates one month forward in order to adapt to the increasingly seasonal changes this country has experienced over the last few years to allow all sporting codes to complete full seasons.
Therefore, I would like to propose that the winter sport codes season starts on the 1st May to 31st October and the summer season codes begin on 1st November to 30th April.
