In 2006-2007 there were a series of large scale tarmac events (folks stuck inside hot, stinky aircraft without food, water or hygienic toilet facilities) that made national news. These stranding/tarmac events were so horrifying that the flying public said "enough is enough" and demanded that Congress step in and regulate air carriers for basic health and safety issues related to these "stranding events".

Since then FlyersRights.org has accomplished a 3 hour rule and basic safety and health standards inside aircraft and our mission has expanded to transparency of reporting for ancillary fees, refunds of aviation taxes on cancelled tickets, better compensation for overbooked flights and many other issues of importance to the flying public.

As a member of FlyersRights.org I request that Congress pass the airline passengers bill of rights without delay.

The FlyersRights.org: Airline Passengers Deserve Rights! petition to Airline Passengers, Department of Transportation, Congress was written by Kathleen Hanni and is in the category Human Rights at GoPetition.
