Following the earthquake in Haiti on January 12, 2010, all of the flights to Haiti were canceled. A month later, when they started again, some companies like American Airlines made some changes which badly affected Haitians in the US. For instance, they imposed a $50 tax on anybody who needs to go on standby, even when it is for an emergency. It is really mean especially in those circumstances!
We, the Haitians in the US and the Caribbeans in particular, call on the company American Airlines to eliminate the $50 tax for standby, because we are very good customers simply trying to cope with terrible situations in our poor country following the earthquake which destroyed it on January 12, 2010!
