Geoffrey Prestley Humphrey was convicted in March 2009 of the manslaughter of David Grainger. In March 2010, his six year sentence was reduced to four years, meaning he would be freed in two years.
We, the undersigned, petition the Ministry of Justice to lobby to reconsider the recent successful appeal of a Mr. Geoffrey Prestley Humphreys of Hyde, Cheshire.
It is the belief of the undersigned that six years imprisonment is not "excessive" (Sir Anthony May) for the taking of a person's life. Furthermore, we believe that the success of an appeal should not depend upon "circumstances... [of other] cases".
We also ask that any review of this appeal be considered in regards to future sentences of this nature.
