Thurrock Council intends to raise £420,000 by imposing charges on schoolchildren who need transport to get to their local faith school - as well as introducing charges for some 16 -19 year olds who need transport to get to college
Imposing these charges will hit very hard those families whose children attend their local Roman Catholic and Church of England schools; Thurrock Labour Party oppose them. We believe transport to faith schools is an entitlement, not discretionary and should be free.
At a time when many hard working families are feeling the pinch, we find it astonishing that Thurrock Conservatives are looking to saddle them with new costs.
We believe the Catholic and Church of England communities in Thurrock will be as outraged as we are when they learn of these proposals. Thurrock Labour Party does not support these plans in any way, shape or form and we’ll be campaigning vigorously to have them scrapped.
