Yes to Gay/lesbian rights

Background (Preamble):
I myself have very strong beliefs on the topic of gay & lesbian rights. I am making this petition to address this issue.
One of the main reasons why states don't allow marriages of the same gender is due to what most find is suitable for children. But children do well in homes where they are nurtured and loved, regardless of the parents' genders. Also, many gay or lesbian couples choose not to have or adopt children.
Another issue is religion. Some believe that by allowing gay marriages is immoral. However, the very 1st amendment it the right to self religion. Just because that religion believes it is immortal why must others have to live with that? Gay & lesbian marriages are just as real as marriages between a man & women. So why is it illegal for them to marry in some states?
If two people truly love each other, shouldn’t they be allowed the same rights no matter their genders?

I strongly hope that after reading my petition and opinions that you will take this issue seriously and into consideration.
