BCC Briefs 1-15-2008

At the January 15, 2008 Board of County Commissioners meeting, the board took the following action:

Pets – approved on first reading and advertised for public hearing on Feb. 5, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. an ordinance encouraging sterilization of cats and dogs in Palm Beach County.

Under the measure, all dog and cat owners must have their pets spayed or neutered or pay $75 for an “unaltered” tag. Animal breeders must obtain a permit (no charge if acquired within 90 days, $150 thereafter), would be limited to two litters or twenty puppies and kittens per year, and must provide names, addresses and phone numbers of buyers (this is pasted exactly from the County’s website).
