On June 22, 2007, Jason Harmon was found dead in his Pekin home. His brother Robert Harmon was later arrested and indicted by a grand jury for first degree murder.

Robert and his girlfriend Lori were at Jason's home the night before and after both brothers spent the night drinking, a fight happened in the early morning hours leaving Jason dead.

His brother Robert, nor the girlfriend, Lori called 911 even after stating to police Jason could only grunt in response to their questioning if he was ok. They left Jason's home with Jason laying on the living room floor. Jason was later found by the father of the 2 men after Robert calling to tell his dad Jason's front door was still open.

There have been numerous continuances and Robert has been free on bond and allowed to leave the state of Illinois, to work as an over the road truck driver. He was also allowed to visit family for Christmas in 2007.

On April 15, 2009, there was a plea deal brought before the court to allow Robert to plead guilty to Involuntary Manslaughter, down from his first degree Murder charge. Involuntary Manslaughter only has a punishment of a minimum 48 months probation and a maximum of 14 years in prison. Robert took the plea and will be sentenced June 25, 2009.

Jason also left 2 young boys at the time of his death.

We the undersigned are asking that Robert A. Harmon receive the maximum of 14 years in prison in relation to the death of Jason I. Harmon.

We the undersigned would also like to let the Honorable Judge Richard Grawey know that we have great concern with the accused only being given probation and being able to walk among us.
