Extended Warranty 8 years/100,000miles for Mazda 2004-2008 RX8 on Renesis Rotary engine.
Mazda North America in June 2008 announced that it will be extending the US-market warranty on the Renesis rotary engine—currently found in the RX-8—to eight years/100,000miles (whichever comes first, as usual). Is this a symbol of Mazda’s faith in the engine? No it isn’t! Mazda North America has acknowledged a duty of care to it RX8 owners and is aware that there is a major problem with flooding in the Renesis rotary engine, and that it simply won’t last.
A memo to service department in the US in June 2008.

Dear Mazda Dealer:
Mazda Motor Corporation is extending the warranty coverage on Rotary Engine Core Components on all 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 model year RX-8 vehicles. The warranty coverage for the Rotary Engine Core Components is extended to 8 years (96 months) from the original warranty start date, with a 100,000 mileage limitation.
The following is a list of components covered by this warranty:
Rotary Engine Core
Rotary Housing and Internal Parts
Internal Seals and Gaskets
This is not a recall. This is a warranty extension for the specified parts only. Inspection and replacement of non-failed parts will not be eligible for reimbursement to the dealer or customer. This program extends the warranty period for actual failures due to defects in workmanship or materials in accordance with Mazda Warranty Policy and Procedures.”

Why is Mazda Australia not following the US lead? Mazda RX8 owners all over Australia are having the same engine flooding problem which is costing thousands of dollars to fix and Mazda Australia is NOT acknowledging the problem.
We are asking for all Mazda RX8 owners to sign the petition to be forwarded to Mazda Australia to extent the extended warranty here in Australia for owners of 2003 – 2008 models.
We the undersigned call on Mazda Australia to extend the warranty on the Mazda RX8 2003 to 2008 Renesis rotary engine to eight years /161,000km.
As consumers of a major car manufacture with dealerships across Australia, we are disappointed that Mazda Australia has not extended the warranty on Mazda RX8 Renesis rotary engine like Mazda North America.
Why is Mazda Australia not following the US lead? Mazda RX8 owners all over Australia are having the same engine flooding problem which is costing thousands of dollars to fix and Mazda Australia is NOT acknowledging the problem.
