Category: Education
Region: United States of America
Target: University of California, Los Angeles
Background (Preamble):
Why was the UCLA Medical Center named for Ronald Reagan? Who was consulted? Did the decision-makers forget his shameful abdication of leadership in the fight against AIDS, some of the earliest cases of which were reported at UCLA?
Did they forget how he pruned eligibility lists for Medicaid and Medicare? Did they forget how he reduced federal reimbursements for home health care and skilled nursing facilities at a time when hospital stays were being dramatically shortened?
Did they forget how he cut eligibility, especially for children, for food stamps and subsidies to the federal school breakfast and lunch program and limited nutrition programs with proven health benefits like the popular Women and Infant Care?
