Targeted and broad-based sanctions must be imposed against the illegitimate and corrupt government of Mwai Kibaki.
Everyone knows that the elections were fraudulent and steps must be taken to defend Kenya's nascent democracy. No lasting peace will come to Kenya without justice in the 2007 elections and too much is at stake. The welfare of 150 million people in the East African region is in jeopardy.
The international community should act with haste, because Kenya is a very important country in the region. It has a UN headquarters in Nairobi, the only one in the third world, it is the manufacturing base for east and central Africa, the base for humanitarian operations in the region, the gateway to the interior etc.
Kenya cannot have instability for too long.
