Oklahoma: Starr Cannon has today reported a victory with her campaign which called on the Lawton City Council to approve a measure, that would allow Hunt Properties, to develop a 275,000 square feet retail center at 82nd and Quanah Parker Trailway. She reports:

"Thank you to everyone who signed the petition, came to the City Council Member, emailed the council, spoke to friends, put magnets on your cars, joined groups. Thank you for standing up and letting your voice be heard."

"The petition was able to achieve the positive outcome we hoped for. The vote was 6-2 The two no votes were Stanley Haywood and George Moses. The yes votes were Bill Shoemate, Michael Tenis, Dr. Rosemary Bellino-Hall, Jay Burk, Richard Zarle and Doug Wells."

"What a wonderful time for those who support this project. Hopefully this raises an awareness for us all. I for one, plan to pay a lot more attention, and I'll make sure to vote!!"

Once again, thank you all!"

"Also, there is a group on Facebook called Lawton Citizens for Economic Growth. If you aren't a member, join. I'm sure, it will only continue to grow, and we can all work together, to create a beautiful and prosperous place to call home!!

"And from Beverly Tuberville Perry, "Important! The yes vote means they have to make changes to the contract and return in 2 weeks for another vote. We new to make sure that there are no kinks or delay tactics. Please stay tuned. I told councilman Haywood during the break that will will be watching closely for any delays. He was a no vote. But we are over the biggest hurdle"! Starr Cannon."

Starr also thanked GoPetition for hosting the campaign:

"GoPetition is an AWESOME site! I would definitely use again. Found it easy, informative and wonderful!"

Thanks Starr.
