mrs Diane Evans, Cookham, United Kingdom
This is inappropriate development of an historic thameside village of national and international importance (Sir Stanley Spencer's 'village made in heaven' ). The response to increased traffic pressure in a residential village is not to build more commuter roads in the heart of the community at the considerable expense of community, residents and visitors quality of life. These village roads, footpaths and green spaces are a valuable amenity for residents and visitors alike.

The Pound One Way system reeks of disjointed planning and cronyism which will ultimately encourage addition unnecessary housing and development

ANY development of Poundfield would be disastrous. The riding school field is the only open space between Cookham Dean and the Moor, giving an essential green break between old and new Cookham.
Even a lit rear footpath would urbanise the Pound and who would use it? It would be further to walk, also schoolchildren are safer when in view

This is not in the best interest of Cookham as if you improve the flow through it will only result in more people using it as a rat run including the large lorries which should be encouraged to use more appropriate routes if they are not delivering in the area, also maybe deliveries should be made out of rush hour times. Don't create a better race track!!!

Running a road through Poundifeld will lay it open to the possibility of further redevelopment, which in the long term would put an increasing strain on the village infrastructure. Improving traffic flow through the Pound, in this way, will only encourage more traffic to use the route resulting in more congestion on connecting roads.

To take a road through poundfield is just adding too much pressure to an overused road. An alternative solution needs to be thought of.
Alternative sites must be used for housing and not the poundfield sites, we don't have the infrastructure to deal with an additional housing estate in Cookham.

The narrowness and calming measures along the Pound self-regulate the traffic flow both in terms of speed and volumes. This plan is unfitting to such an area. Historically, the Pound is the western end of medieval Cookham town. 160 years ago it had baker’s, grocer’s, butcher’s & blacksmith’s shops, a beerhouse & two pubs, with orchards behind. Only fields lined the lane from Pound to Dean.
If adopted it will be a disaster for Cookham. It will encourage the Pound to become an even busier rat run and create problems in the village as the increased flow backs up from the bridge.

There is to little open green spaces, do not destroy what lttle we have.

THE RECENT FLOODS HAVE INDICATED THE NEED FOR OPEN GREEN SPACES, IF WE MADE THESE CAHNGES MORE PROPERTIES AND BUSINESSES WOULD BE PRONE TO POTENTIAL FLLODING

Mr Dave Cosgrave, Cookham, Berkshire, United Kingdom
Whilst the traffic is a problem at the Pound area, this would be better resolved by traffic lights which would only allow vehicles to travel one way at a time through the narrow parts and allow the pathway to be widened. A new road is completely over the top and would increase through traffic and traffic speeds leading to greater chances of accidents.
