My daughter has been bullied almost non-stop since year 7. The school repeatedly do nothing. Same as everyone else we report every incident and then the school do nothing!
The management seem to put more time in to helping the bullies than protecting the victims. Several known bullies (at least one of which was excluded in Y11) were still allowed to attend prom as "it was unfair to stop them attending". This is in complete contradiction to their own rules. It appears they make up the rules to suit themselves. I wonder if they are scared of the bullies parents as I can think of no other reason why they appear to take no action despite everyone locally being fully aware of the bullying problems.
My advice - contact Ofsted directly! That's what I ended up doing and it finally made some difference!
The school are not interested in supporting good parents - but they are scared of Ofsted

Every school has some sort off bullying but I have never seen it as bad as I have looking around in school, most of the subjects to bullying are considered the 'outcasts' or the 'sluts/slags' , mostly everyone I see getting bullied will just 'brush it off' because in their eyes it's considered 'normal' to them,
This does need to change but assemblies and posters about it will not help at all and neither will a big plan that will bow off in two weeks,
Cases need to be looked into by the students themselves to help improve how the school looks at bullying , students themselves should come together and inform the staff of the seriousness of bullying and make a stand.

The situation and "handling" then was poor to say the least and I have had to deal with the aftermath for most of my adult life. Your words are so very familiar, even the teacher's comments about the bullies attendance etc. we were told the same. We were also told that it was my daughters fault and that she would have the same problem wherever she went. I can assure you this was not the case, she is doing very well at her new school.

I think the management team are out of their depth and are not sure how to deal with it. The only help the management team could offer my son when he was being bullied was to "run away". My daughter was bullied for years, the school did nothing. What angered me was Mr. Fair asked me did I think she brought it on herself because she was too quiet. I removed her from that school at the end of year 10 when her health started to suffer. It's a pity the school did not take the same attitude with the bullies. If I had my time over again I would never send a child of mine to that school. (Top advise there guys) you really need to see the long term effects of bullying and what it can do to a child as they grow up.

TLC needs to be shut down until the people in it are trained the way they should be to handle the problems and bullying that they are faced with in the real world.

I remember one of my teachers, back when I was in year 8, saying that one of the things Tewkesbury school aimed to teach was for students to learn how to look after themselves. That always stuck with me and could suggest the school has a laizzez faire culture with regards to bullying. That said, the school is still a relatively good one. I went to first aid and told them I was in a lot of pain and what had happened. They were reluctant to do anything, told me to ignore the boy that tripped and avoid him (which was hard as we were in the same tutor group) and to keep bending my knee despite the pain. At lunchtime I was limping through the canteen to get my lunch and was accidently knocked and kandy on the same knee again. They agreed to call my mum so I could go home and rest my knee. Due to the pain, my mum took me to hospital and found out I had badly hurt my knee and was giving crutches for several weeks. Upon returning to school with my crutches, the boy that caused it was laughing at me and making jokes every chance he got. I reported it but he denied all. In the end, he was made to apologise to me (he was snickering during the apology but nothing was said by our tutor who was present) and I was made to apologise to him! The bullying continued but I was so let down by how they handled it I didn't report it so suffered in silence. This shows they can't handle bullying or appropriate first aid!!!

It is a real shame that the school's response to these issues is to blame the victims as we have also experienced, with the school referring him for psychological assessment rather than dealing with the pupils that are causing him such distress. It does require serious attention.
Another situation to look at is the size of the school and the size of Tewkesbury this shows it can not cope with demand.
