Mr. Jim Holder, Pensacola, FL, United States of America
Everyone deserves a second chance at a good life as long as they are willing to work for it. Everyone makes mistakes and everyone at one point breaks the law. Some people are caught and most are not. The people who are caught pay their debt back to society and after they do that they don't ever get the opportunity at rightful employment. Felons are human beings and they just want an equal opportunity to not only change their life but to make sure their kids dont make the same mistakes they did.

It is only fair and it is only right that the plight of a hard working and law abiding ex-felon be recognized in the states' legislatures and the US congress so that a straight to the point and easily enforceable federal law be enacted to open all the doors that are currently closed to ex-felons!

Mr Walter Bass, Fayetteville, AR, United States of America
It is ridiculous to assume because someone makes a mistake that they are no longer qualified to do a job. How much punishment should someone receive for a crime? A life sentence of not having a career? This is a travesty and is the reason our prison system is a revolving door for many, which takes billions of dollars a year of taxpayer money to operate. Once a debt to society is paid, that should be the end of the debt.

Mr. Paul Burton, Marion, Ohio, United States of America
I am one of those ex-felons you don't hear alot about I am trying to lead a good life after surving 14 years in prison for my crime. I had a great job but lost it because of the auto industry down fall. For 9 months I have been looking for work every employer will not give me a chance. They are more interested in the law I broke 17 years ago then what I can do for them today. Unemployment is running out. What do I do then? Just need the chance. But who will give it to me?

Mr. Caleb McKean, Salem, Oregon, United States of America
This is an issue that has only become worse over time. The pain that it causes millions, as well as the financial cost to our society, by denying work we increase recidivism rates.
It seems like there is nothing a felon can do no matter how hard they try. Failure is an increasing chance for felons. The laws are not right when it comes to felons who want to succeed after their past has been corrected.
I have a dream that one day I will be able to find a job based on my skills and not of mypast

Mr kenneth Bates, Atlanta, GA, United States of America
Sure some felons obviously are going to be repeat offenders. However it defies logic that people who have served their time and now off probation cannot find employment. Common sense would suggest that if even the best intentioned person cannot find empployment they will eventually turn to something illegal again. 'Then you'll say I told you so!' If the same people unforgiving of felons wants forgiveness from God then mercy and forgiveness should be the rule of law. Anything else is inhumane.
