In 2006, President George W. Bush signed into law the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act (P.L. 109-248), as a guideline for state laws on sex crimes. The statute was intended to toughen punishmentfor sex offenders, now making their photos, names and addresses available to the general public. Prior to the year 2009, when I was notified of the above-mentioned change in law, I did have a family, but after having my life (fiance' and child) threatened by people I don't know in the community, I chose to leave my home of 13 years and 10 year old daughter, whom I had full custody of. Now S.S. is denying me disability and I can not find a job. I am being discriminated against and need legal representation, or I will be homeless within the next 2 months. Please Help!

The bottom line is that of anyone wants to offend either it being their first time or a repeat offense. Having a human beings information out for everyone to see is/will not deter or stop them for committing their act. All honestly it will make the efforts to solve the crime harder. One if a person/child is violated police are first most likely going to knock on the door of everyone on the registry that is close. Only to find out it was someone not on a registry. Then if lawmakers had any inteligence. They would know if someone was going to reoffend it wouldn't be in an area where their face is known. It will be miles away from their picture. Registries are useless if not a contributer to repeat offenders to be more cunning in their offenses.

I am not one myself but have seen this firsthand and do not approve. Probation and parole claim to want to rehabilitate offenders what a joke. Sex offenders aren't given the opportunity to get their life back together. Government instil fear into the public to make sex offenders seem like they are incurable which is false. with the right treatment and support, there is no reason that sex offenders can not rehabilitate. The public needs to be supportive instead of rejecting them from society, societys rejection of sex offenders will only cause the sex offender to reoffend due to not being accepted in society, therefore preferring to reoffend so they can return to jail due to not being able to live within the public. The system needs to change and this treatment needs to stop. Sex offenders are human beings, wit human and constitutional rights whether the government likes it or not.
