Unlike EastEnders, Hollyoaks, Emmerdale etc, The Bill was best seen as a more serious type of drama and clearly not OTT or anything like that. It matches with Coronation Street as a very engaging piece of entertainment thus it was both exciting and never ceases to amaze. Simon Rouse who played from DCI to Superintendent Jack Meadows should be given top honors since being in the programme in the last 18-20 years of it. Todd Carty was also as good as the sinister Gabriel 'David' Kent along with cast original of the show Mark Wingett as Jim Carver of his own character of during the time of alcohol addiction just like I did. The Bill kept up with some of the most greatest storylines and why did they have to axe it in the place and due to the fact of changing tastes as so to speak. The rest of some of the other programmes maybe clearly overrated as of such but The Bill wasn't. It was straight and even had an edge to it. Why axe the Bill in the first place. I just don't get it. The Bill was top class.

However ITV never pointed out the fact that the relaunch moved 'The Bill' to ITV from STV in Scotland which accounts for the viewer lost as ITV was only available to cable owners (on Sky - ITV London - at least). ITV made bad decisions - cutting out at least 1/4 of it's viewers, changing the music and changing the formating of the show to be more like US crime dramas.

I will miss it, and am dissapointed in ITV. No doubt it will be replaced with yet more repeats or some cheap rubbish sitcom!
