I have seen this type of behaviour before with the Olympics people were forced out etc.
The Isle of Wight is being ruined by all these developments (what next, will they concrete the Solent & build on the water)
If you build new homes you need more Hospital beds etc, St.Mary's can't even cope now with the numbers, also for many procedures island residents have to travel to the mainland for treatment.
Surely in the year 2015 that does not need to be the case.
1 super hospital that does everything is the answer, when someone is poorly the last thing they want is to have to travel for treatment.
Back to the Extra Houses being built it will ruin the Islands landscape and it will join places together Ryde is nearly touching Newport.
Next there will be talk of a Congestion charge and dreaded bus lanes (what next)
There are already so many empty properties on the island & many old derelict hotels sitting empty why not tidy them up & make extra accommodation with what's available.
Too many greedy people out there who want to make money.

Even without this enormous development (which is such a crazy thought) the over population is evident. Not only evident with the environmental implications but also the social problems.

Has the IOW got the environmental or social capacity for a development on this scale? I think not.

It is such a shame a beautiful island is slowly being destroyed. I would like to continue to feel proud to say I come from a beautiful place in England, of which there are not many left. However, if this were to go ahead I surely couldn't feel proud of a place that would let this happen.

1)High risk of FLOODING, which if this goes ahead will end up pouring more water into the Monkton Mead and strand areas
2)An increased traffic load on the already congested roads around the planed site
3)Structural surface damage on these roads will be on going where there is no planed upgrade or finance to cover this
4)Plans for the sewerage . The sewerage piping in Ryde is old and there is a tendency for sewerage to be mixed with flood and ground water when flooding occurs in The Strand. My concerns are that the developer hasn't given this problem enough thought.It should be insisted by the Planning Department that the sewerage piping from the complex should feed directly into the system which goes to Sandown,
The area is a Greenfield site of outstanding beauty and an environment for natural wild life habitats losing these sites on are island = less nature & more pollution
There are numerous brownfield sites within Ryde not to mention vacant property which could be converted
Island unemployment is one of the highest in the country so will these people commute to the mainland for work NO !

Large volumes of traffic pass through the Westridge area especially at peak times and given the vast size of the proposed estate the quantity of cars that would be introduced to the area would only worsen the problem. Furthermore, substantial strain will be put on the hospital, schools, police etc. due to such an immense increase in population in a short space of time. After all there is plenty of property on the market in Ryde and elsewhere on the island so the argument that this development is needed to help island residents is preposterous.
