Same charge ..I was not guilty and asked to take it to trial, I was given one of the jokes of our system called a public defender, who was horrible and scared me from doing it saying I had no choice but to take the plea, this was in 1998. My charges are since dismissed but this is ruining my life. I'm not a criminal, or threat either. I deserve a chance too..I pray for us.the system is down right criminal. They are killing our future

I am in the same position, from being a promising student who was going to become a doctor, to a criminal, for nothing more than damaging a shed when I was 17, now there is no hope of me ever becoming a doctor...

I'd suggest something like this should be applied to Scot law also.

Crimes of murder and rape are quite different from a drug charge.
All too often, DA's are looking for a feather in their caps, making drug crimes part of their conviction "rate" to impress the voters. This contributes to greater recidivism in the population rather than offering a real solution or other mechanisms for change.

These stigma endanger the lives of good people who just want to live a law-abiding life and put the past behind them - in order to do this the system of justice must become more compassionate. Restriction of employment can only create the potential for increased crime - thereby creating an endless cycle. Keep this info sealed!

But Colorado has to be different.You are eligible to have your records sealed ONLY if:
• you were not charged;
• the case against you was completely dismissed; or
• you were acquitted of all charges.
