You caused undue stress to this person with horrid consequences. For 2Day FM to state that they could not have forseen the outcome makes it clear that they have shown unwillingness to learn and live by their obligations as a media outlet. They have had past warnings and still could not correct things.

Furthermore; they commited two other crimes not readily highlighted by the press readily. First, they obtained private medical information; This is against European Union laws. Second, they committed theft by deception. In obtaining this information deceptively, they then proceeded to air the information for profit.....in hopes of garnering more advertising money.

This company needs to have their license revoked permanently not just in lieu of this Kate tragedy, but in light of repeated tragedies where they have harmed others with their actions in the past.

It really was just a matter of time before something like this happened. The unfortunate thing is that the media will look after its own. As the dust settles these two will still have a media career, paid interviews, books, and feel good stories to make people empathise for them. Their remorse and tears are a maketing oportunity and will only build support for their future career. They should be banned from ever being able to work or profit from their 'story' and be tried for manslaughter. They cannot just excuse their actions by saying they never thought this would happen. Same as a driver that causes an accident cannot just be excused because they're sorry after the event that took someone's life. The whole organisation should be made to pay. And this should have long lasting repercussions that will garantee that all people involved will be made to never forget. Jail time, closure of the station and the parent company any all subsidiaries is what is needed. This should be the catalyst for change. We should expect nothing less. It's about time these people are taken to account for their actions.

Sadly that is no longer the case. The current owners continually show they have no morals, no ethics and no integrity. They apologised initially but then continued to promote the call on air and on their website. The announcers involved gloated about the worldwide media attention they were getting. They continue to lie ("we tried to contact the hospital five times"). This station should cease to exist.
