I'm against Sam's coming to Glen Carbon for more than the reasons of tax issues and traffic. Sam's is not the business that will enhance our community! Just look at Fairview Heights Sams--it's a MESS! I don't want any part of that being in our community. If Sam's and Glen Carbon really want to locate here, do it on the property off 270 that was recently legally settled as being a part of Glen Carbon--over by the warehouses and the Oak Store.

What benefit does this bring and at what cost to the community? If it's such a great proposal then why the need for the tax break? Why not use the money to clean up the area (bulldoze what will never be used), improve traffic and then sell to the highest bidder rather than paying a major company to take it. It would seem that there are many other options that would improve Glen Carbon besides a Sam's Club. Although a Sam's Club would be nice, why are we so desperate to pay for one?
