Public service was not designed as a lifetime job. As a former mid level State employee I am aware of many committed civil servants. I also am aware of corruption, waste of taxpayer dollars, and schemes to pad retirement pensions. It is $7.25 and the last time it was raised was back in 2009. Meanwhile, inflation keeps going up and up and up. $15 an hour if you work a 40 hour week is only $600. Fell for the month it's $2,400 before taxes. To me, this means that someone doesn't have to choose between the light bill and groceries.
